文章摘要： Sumitomo Metal Industries Ltd has developed what it calls a next-generation electro-galvanized steel sheet for automotive use with a coating weight of only 30 g/m exp 2 but with a corrosion resistance, weldability, formability and paintability superior to the 60 g type now in wide use. Sumitomo Metal is prepared to make the new technology available to steel and automobile manufacturers worldwide through licensing. The growing requirements for lighter and stronger steel will increase the importance of electro-galvanizing. The new technology has moved to commercial production at Sumitomo Metal's Kashima Works after more than five years of research.
