文章摘要： The process of the welding of metals with a continuous CO sub 2 laser can be studied using sets of equations that are solved numerically. To obtain insight into the numerous physical processes involved however it is useful to have a simple analytical framework for the main energy transfer process between the laser beam and the work piece. This can be used as a framework for investigation of additional processes. This paper presents such a framework; it is physically based, agrees well with experimental results and is analytically simple.
