文章摘要： Electron beam welding is a high energy density welding process. One of the main advantages it offers to the design engineer is the opportunity to make narrow, controlled depth penetration welds with considerable lower heat input when compared with conventional arc welding. This lower heat input results in a narrower heat affected zone (HAZ) and very little distortion of the workpiece. Several examples are discussed, including automotive gearbox production, transducer production, and turbocharger manufacture.
